Location Description:

The Lawrence, Kansas facility is 236,000 square feet and home to about 200+ hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Kibbles 'n Bits®. Lawrence is a college town and the home to both the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University with Kansas State University about 85 miles away. The city is known for a thriving music and art scene and is also the home of the University of Kansas athletic teams.

About the Role 

As an Operations Supervisor supporting our packaging area, you’ll lead day-to-day manufacturing operations at our Lawrence facility. You’ll help your team achieve key goals across safety, food safety, quality, customer service, productivity, efficiency, cost, and OEE. 

This role is about more than keeping production moving. It’s about developing people, creating accountability, supporting problem-solving, and building a culture where employees are empowered to contribute, improve, and take pride in their work. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead, coach, and develop operations team members to meet performance expectations and company standards. 

  • Plan, organize, and coordinate work activities and staffing schedules to meet production demand. 

  • Support employee communication, accountability, and problem-solving across personnel and production topics. 

  • Maintain production facilities, equipment, and systems in safe, sanitary, and compliant working condition. 

  • Perform safety, GMP, and pre-operational audits. 

  • Drive continuous improvement across yield, OEE, employee engagement, safety, and quality. 

  • Implement new operating procedures and recommend improvements to equipment, processes, and materials. 

  • Support team training, leadership development, and employee growth. 

  • Ensure safety guidelines are understood, followed, and reinforced every day. 

  • Promote strong communication between shifts through effective handoffs and shift transfer meetings.

Qualifications:

What We’re Looking For 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, management, science, or a related field preferred. 

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience preferred, ideally in food manufacturing. 

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred. 

  • Strong understanding of food manufacturing systems and processes. 

  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and techniques. 

  • Ability to build relationships, inspire others, and lead teams through change. 

  • Strong planning, organizing, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 

  • A leadership style grounded in accountability, collaboration, approachability, and composure. 

  • Willingness to take on broader assignments that support continued development.
