Overview
This candidate will be integrally involved in the daily transportation need of the Groton Shipyard, including but not limited to: forklifts, trucks, tractor trailers, and transporters, which may include moves made off-site. Must have detailed knowledge of transportation responsibilities and be capable of directing multi-trade personnel as well as the ability to interact with all levels of management. Individual will be in charge of material flow throughout the shipyard, off-site locations, Quonset Point, and major moves.
This is a second shift position.
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years transportation experience such as FDFL, truck driver, Scheuerle operator, and or transportation planner
- Knowledge of CT and Federal DOT regulations
- Must possess strong PC Skills such as MS Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, Passport, Mainframe, Oracle
- Willingness to travel locally to support Groton and off-site major moves
Preferred:
- 3+ years leadership experience
- Bachelors Degree
- Knowledge of fleet operations
- Knowledge of Transporter Operations
- Knowledge of Shipping and Receiving Operations
- Knowledge of Corrigo, PEWO''s, and VReq''s
Skills
- Individual must be well organized and self motivated with strong leadership qualities
- Must have ability to multi-task and interface with all levels of management
- Candidate must be good communicator and be capable of directing multi-trade personnels
