Job Summary


The Operations Technician is responsible for the effective operation, minor repair and changeovers of production equipment; and working with others to achieve factory business objectives of safety, productivity, customer service, quality, cost and environmental protection. The primary accountabilities of the role include daily production, quality and sanitization procedures, safety compliance, equipment maintenance procedures, data collection, housekeeping, problem solving and continuous improvement as part of a work team. The Operations Technician works within a structure that requires considerable interaction with others in the same production unit as well as other production units and support functions.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities


+ Manufacturing of Colgate-Palmolive products.

+ Seek and understand schedule and demand plans. Coordinate with upstream and downstream processes by working with others in planning, warehouse, receiving and vendor representatives to ensure availability of material for current and next runs.

+ Performs quality sampling and statistical process control activities both manually and through computer keyboard throughout the manufacturing process.

+ Operates, monitors, and performs changeovers and minor maintenance of automated equipment (making, finishing) through computer terminals, control panels and/or by manual means in the

+ Troubleshoots, performs minor repairs and other maintenance on production equipment, supported by maintenance personnel as needed.

+ Prepares and stacks finished product for shipping using SAP and working with Colgate local warehouse employees and Colgate distribution network employees.

+ Performs Housekeeping activities as per established protocol and conducts/participates in area housekeeping assessments per requirement. Responsible for house-keeping of teamwork area

+ Undertakes daily reporting and updates of information systems (SAP, Shop Floor Reporting, Cycle Counts, and Opera)

+ Accurately and fully completes all regulatory and compliance related documentation and procedures.

+ Stays abreast of team's production performance via visual, written and verbal communications

+ Participates in regular review of team production performance and uses information to drive continuous improvement. Participates in SGM

+ Seek and apply Continuous Improvement tools (5 whys and RCA) and techniques to achieve team goals e.g. Quality Systems, Total Productive Maintenance.

+ Understands and adheres to Environmental, Occupational, Health and Safety requirements

+ Understand and adhere to all Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices and Micro Cleaning & Sanitization Guidelines standards and guidelines

+ Understand the needs of both internal and external customers. Internal customers include Quality, Planning, Maintenance, and Finance. External customers are other Colgate plants, customer service and, for example, Target, WalMart etc.

+ Shares knowledge and develops skills of others in the work team. Actively participate in continuous learning opportunities.

+ Understand impact of actions on specific plant and departmental KPIs

+ Provide feedback when you see an employee participating in an at risk behavior.

+ Maintain GMPs and FDA compliance at all times.

Qualifications


Required:


+ High school diploma or equivalent

+ 1+ year of manufacturing, military or relevant production operations experience

+ Ability to work nights and weekends

+ Ability to adhere to all safety and EOHS standards, and wear and utilize all personal protective equipment.

+ Ability to perform regular housekeeping and maintain general cleanliness in work area


Physical Requirements :


+ Must be able to stand for 8 - 12 hours per shift

+ Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, reach for extended periods of time during shift

+ Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

+ Must be able to frequently move boxes, totes, bags raging in weight up to 50 pounds

+ Must be able to wear all required personal protective equipment

+ Must be able to ascend and descend ladders and stairs


Preferred:


+ Vocational or Technical Degree

+ At least one year of experience with any or all of the following:

+ FDA regulated environment, minimum safe behaviors, utilizing safety checklists, OSHA standards

+ performing equipment changeovers (make-ready)

+ performing quality checks or audits in manufacturing processes

+ using Continuous Improvement Tools

+ training others

+ being responsible for knowing and achieving production goals

+ conducting team or workgroup meetings

+ preparing production or other reports

+ applying problem solving tools or techniques

+ using the production, planning or other module in SAP

+ collaborating with co-workers on decision-making exercises

+ using Microsoft Office


Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $22.89 - $24.74 USD


Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws.
