Operations Utility

Reports to: Operations Manager

Position Summary

The Operations Utility role supports daily manufacturing by operating and maintaining the utility systems for the plant and preparing raw materials for upcoming batch production. This role provides operational support to the Formulations team by helping ensure waste streams are managed effectively, production areas remain clean and organized, and materials are properly kitted and staged. This position contributes to the company's objective of strengthening operational efficiency while maintaining a strong focus on safety, housekeeping, and assigned operational priorities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prioritize the safety and wellbeing of the team and of the environment by following safe work programs, such as LOTO, confined space entry, elevated work, good ergonomic and lifting techniques, and more
• Operate, monitor, and maintain the scrubber system in accordance with established procedures
• Operate, monitor, and maintain the evaporator system to support effective waste stream management
• Perform daily sampling activities and coordinate closely with lab personnel
• Obtain powered industrial truck/forklift certification and utilize safe driving methods
• Prepare and stage raw materials for batch activities
• Use proper material handling techniques of metal and fiber drums, small dry powder bags, super sacks, and bulk liquid materials
• Load and unload bulk tanker trucks safely while following site procedures and material handling requirements
• Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas in alignment with housekeeping standards and safety priorities
• Support business objectives by performing additional duties as assigned

Safety Responsibilities

• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Participate in required safety training
• Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents promptly

Required Qualifications

• Education

• High school diploma or GED

• Experience

• Minimum 1 year chemical plant experience

• Knowledge of manufacturing unit operations and equipment, including valves, pumps, evaporators, blowers, boilers, and scrubbers

• Skills & Abilities

• Operate and monitor production equipment, including pumps, valves, blowers, scrubbers, and evaporator systems, in accordance with established procedures

• Follow batch instructions, standard operating procedures, safety requirements, and housekeeping expectations consistently

• Obtain and maintain forklift certification

• Familiarity with OSHA standards and best practices

• Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to support production schedules and resolve operational issues

• Work independently and as part of a team in a chemical manufacturing environment

• Use basic math, reading, and documentation skills to complete production records accurately

• Identify unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, or process issues and report them promptly

• Able to lift up to 55lbs
