Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a 1st Shift Operator A Fiber/Filter MFG at our Tupelo/Verona, MS manufacturing plant. This position is responsible for the safe operation of a specific piece of equipment used in the manufacture of components and/or finished products for internal and external customers as defined by a daily production schedule.

As an hourly Operator A Fiber/Filter MFG, the successful candidate will be expected to communicate daily with multiple levels of Company personnel and most importantly with the Managers, Supervisors, and employees in the manufacturing plant.   Operator A Fiber/Filter works in a normal manufacturing environment with exposure to temperature changes.

Additional responsibilities of the Operator A Fiber/Filter MFG position will include:

  • Must be able to operate the machinery proficiently according to customer specifications and daily production schedule.
  • Perform all positions on the card line (including setup and running production, loading/unloading, operating lift, and billing as well as setup and running production.
  • Conducts quality checks to ensure products meet all specifications.
  • Inputs pertinent data into the SAP system.

Skills/ Requirements          

    • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
    • Prior experience as a machine operator. 
    • Forklift experience preferred.
    • Specific on the job training is provided.
    • Basic computer knowledge and the ability to use computerized equipment in daily operations.
    • Must have basic reading, writing and math skills.
    • Ability to read and interpret a tape measure.
    • Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. 
    • Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
