Qualification Highlights

• Must have a current TWIC card
• Must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a Dirt Equipment Operator.
• Must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the position.
• Must be able to meet all physical requirements of the position.
• May be required to possess a valid driver's license and successfully pass a motor vehicle records check.
• Must have all required tools and equipment.
• Must have reliable transportation.

Position Responsibilities

• Operate various types of dirt and construction equipment to perform earthmoving and grading activities.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and document findings.
• Ensure equipment is operated safely and in accordance with company and site requirements.
• Follow directions from signal persons or supervisors during equipment operations.
• Evaluate work areas for safety hazards and operational requirements before beginning work.
• Assist with excavation, grading, backfilling, site preparation, and other dirt work activities.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness and report mechanical concerns promptly.
• Assist other crafts with non-equipment-related tasks during downtime as assigned.
• Follow all company, client, and regulatory safety requirements and procedures.

Required Qualifications

• Experience operating various construction equipment, including but not limited to skid steers, bulldozers, excavators, front-end loaders, backhoes, compactors, rollers, and graders.
• Basic mechanical knowledge with the ability to inspect equipment and identify potential issues.
• Working knowledge of soil types and dirt work applications.
• Knowledge of excavation practices and grade specifications.
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to complete required inspection reports and documentation.
• Commitment to safety and willingness to comply with all site safety requirements.
• Reliable attendance and ability to work assigned schedules, including overtime when required.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in an industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Zachry employee or employee with recall rights.
• Previous experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
• Valid driver's license.
• Experience working in industrial maintenance or refinery environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit for extended periods while operating heavy equipment.
• Frequent use of hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate controls and equipment safely.
• Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and reach as required to access equipment and work areas.
• Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to use hands and fingers for precise, coordinated movements.
• Must be able to pass a visual acuity assessment and maintain depth perception necessary for equipment operation.
• Ability to communicate effectively through speaking, hearing, and hand signals.
• Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, safety vest, respirator when required, and steel-toed work boots.
• Must be capable of accessing and entering equipment cabs and elevated work areas safely.

Work Environment

• Work is performed in an active industrial refinery and maintenance environment.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, including heat, humidity, cold, wind, rain, and direct sunlight.
• Exposure to dirt, dust, mud, noise, vibration, moving equipment, and other construction-related hazards.
• Work may be performed near operating industrial facilities, heavy equipment, and vehicular traffic.
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and alternate shifts as business needs require.
• Must be able to work in compliance with all refinery, client, and Zachry safety standards.

The Industrial Dirt Equipment Operator will safely operate one or more types of construction equipment, including but not limited to skid steers, mini excavators, graders, compactors, rollers, bulldozers, and loaders to perform earthmoving and site preparation activities. Responsibilities include conducting equipment inspections, maintaining safe operating practices, completing required documentation, and assisting other crafts during periods of downtime as needed.
