The Equipment Operator I, under supervision of the Superintendent or the Assistant Superintendent, performs work involving the use of large equipment, including tractors, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, trucks, and other maintenance equipment.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Must be capable of lifting 50-80 lbs. for 10-30 times repeatedly. Employee is regularly required to stand for long periods of time (1-2 hours) with ability to stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, balance, walk straight lines, handle or feel objects like tools or controls. Must have ability to talk/hear and understand when machine is not operating normally. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and depth perception. Employee can expect to work in all aspects of weather; hot, cold and rain.
