The Operator II - Material Handler is responsible for ensuring materials are supplied where needed on the production floor to maintain an uninterrupted flow of operations. This position supports all functions of the Hattiesburg operation through material handling activities, including loading and unloading materials, line replenishment, shipping and receiving support, inventory management, and operating powered industrial vehicles (PIVs) and other material handling equipment as required.
Location: Hattiesburg, MS - Onsite
Shift: 1st Shift - 6:30am to 3:00pm, with overtime until 5:00pm as needed.
Employees are also generally expected to work two Saturdays per month to support operational needs.
Specific Responsibilities
Read and understand written work instructions for job duties and responsibilities.
Load and unload material components in support of daily plant operations.
Understand and utilize Bills of Material (BOMs) and key sheets.
Verify and confirm part numbers, quantities, and accuracy of materials received, distributed to operations, and shipped out.
Follow all safety, quality, and process instructions and procedures.
Maintain 5S standards, housekeeping activities, tool and gage protection, and proper part stockage within work areas.
Utilize hand-held scanners to track engine and generator movements as required.
Complete daily inspections and checklists for PIV equipment, scales, scanners, and other tools needed to perform assigned tasks.
Monitor stock levels for components and subassemblies and replenish materials using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) inventory practices.
Operate powered industrial vehicles (PIVs), forklifts, and other material handling equipment safely and effectively to support production and logistics operations.
Support line replenishment, shipping, receiving, and overall material flow processes.
Identify and escalate variances from standard operating procedures.
Notify the Logistics Lead, Supervisor, Materials, or Quality teams of abnormal parts, defective units, equipment issues, or process concerns.
Be available to support production schedules before startup and after assembly operations end as needed.
Practice Stop, Call, Wait Authority.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Frequent communication with Logistics Leads, Group Lead - Logistics, and Production personnel.
Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
Minimum of three (3) years of industrial manufacturing, logistics, or material handling experience.
PIV (Powered Industrial Vehicle) certification or the ability to obtain certification.
