Job Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Clinical Operations, Clinical Manager, and Lead Ophthalmic Technicians, the Ophthalmic Assistant provides both clinical and administrative support to ensure efficient patient care within the outpatient ophthalmology clinic. This role prepares patients for examinations and diagnostic testing, maintains exam room readiness, and partners with ophthalmologists, orthoptists, residents, and other clinical staff to deliver a seamless patient experience.Essential Functions-Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations and diagnostic testing.-Obtain and document patient history, chief eye complaint, medications, and relevant ocular and medical history in the electronic health record.-Coordinate patient flow throughout the clinic, adjusting testing sequences as needed to support efficient operations.-Perform ophthalmic testing, including color vision and glare/brightness assessments.-Maintain exam rooms, equipment, and clinical supplies to ensure readiness for patient care.-Follow established infection prevention and control policies and procedures.-Adhere to professional standards, organizational policies, and all applicable federal, state, local, and accreditation requirements.Qualifications
