Job Summary:
The successful Ophthalmic Medical Assistant / Technician is an essential team member of the clinic staff, delivering high-quality, patient-centered eye care by supporting physicians and optometrists in both clinical and operational functions. This position is responsible for obtaining and accurately documenting detailed patient histories, performing a wide range of ophthalmic tests, and assisting in comprehensive patient evaluations.
Key duties include conducting preliminary and diagnostic assessments such as visual acuity and visual field testing, auto-refraction and refraction, pupil evaluation, extraocular motility, tonometry, and eye drop instillation. The role involves preparing patients for examinations, maintaining exam rooms and equipment, and ensuring accurate and timely medical record documentation.
The Ophthalmic Medical Assistant / Technician is critical in supporting workflow efficiency and clinic operations, contributing to a well-organized environment and a seamless, positive patient experience.
