Job Description

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled, detail-oriented Ophthalmic Photographer to join our dynamic, high-volume retina practice. The successful candidate will work directly with our vitreoretinal surgeon and clinical team to capture and manage high-quality diagnostic images using state-of-the-art imaging technologies. This individual plays a critical role in patient care, supporting diagnostic accuracy and surgical planning through the delivery of precise ophthalmic imaging.Key Responsibilities:Retinal Imaging:Perform a full range of retinal imaging procedures including:Fundus photography (color, red-free, autofluorescence)Fluorescein angiography (FA)Indocyanine green angiography (ICG)Optical coherence tomography (OCT and OCT-A)Widefield and ultra-widefield imaging (e.g., Optos)External and slit lamp photographyPatient Interaction:Prepare and educate patients for imaging proceduresObtain relevant medical and ocular history as neededEnsure patient comfort and safety during imaging sessionsCollaboration:Work closely with the vitreoretinal surgeon to prioritize urgent cases and provide timely imagingCommunicate effectively with the clinical team regarding patient status, imaging results, and workflowImage Management & Documentation:Upload, organize, and maintain image records in the electronic medical record (EMR) systemAccurately label and annotate images according to protocolEnsure timely delivery of images for review by physiciansEquipment Maintenance:Perform daily calibration and maintenance of all imaging equipmentTroubleshoot basic technical issues and coordinate service when neededCompliance & Safety:Follow infection control and safety protocolsEnsure compliance with HIPAA and clinic privacy standardsAdhere to clinical guidelines for contrast agents during angiography Qualifications:Required:High school diploma or equivalentMinimum 1–2 years of experience in ophthalmic imaging, preferably in a retina practiceProficiency with imaging platforms such as Heidelberg, Zeiss, Optos, Topcon, or equivalentStrong understanding of retinal anatomy and common vitreoretinal diseasesAbility to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume clinical settingExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsPreferred:Certification by the Ophthalmic Photographers' Society (OPS) Certification by the International Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (IJCAHPO) Experience with EMR systems (e.g., NextGen, Epic, ModMed)BLS certification Work Environment:Fast-paced retina specialty clinic with frequent urgent casesDirect interaction with patients of all ages, often with significant visual impairmentStanding and walking for extended periods; ability to lift imaging equipment as neededExposure to low-light environments for image capture Schedule & Benefits:Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday; occasional extended hours based on patient needsCompetitive salary based on experience and certificationBenefits include health insurance, PTO, retirement plan, and continuing education opportunities Travel:Some travel between officesAs part of the hiring process, Eye Consultants of Atlanta may conduct background checks and drug testing to ensure a safe and secure workplace.
