Surgical Coordinator
Midlothian, TX | Full-Time | Clinic / Surgery Scheduling

Texas Eye and Cataract is looking for a Surgical Coordinator to join our growing ophthalmology practice.

TEC is a short 28-minute drive south of downtown Dallas (against traffic) and is rapidly expanding throughout Ellis County. We are searching for a highly organized, compassionate, and detail-oriented Surgical Coordinator to support our surgeons and provide an exceptional patient experience from consultation through surgery.

This role is a critical part of our surgical team and serves as one of the primary points of contact for patients preparing for cataract surgery and other ophthalmic procedures. The ideal candidate will enjoy working closely with patients, discussing surgical options, coordinating logistics, and helping patients feel comfortable and informed throughout the process.

Surgical Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Review insurance benefits and financial expectations with patients
  • Discuss surgical recommendations, treatment options, and premium upgrade packages
  • Obtain surgical consents and ensure documentation is complete and accurate
  • Schedule surgeries and coordinate calendars across multiple Ambulatory Surgery Centers
  • Communicate with surgery centers, physicians, technicians, and referring offices
  • Verify insurance benefits, authorizations, and patient eligibility
  • Assist patients with financing options and payment arrangements when appropriate
  • Educate patients regarding surgical timelines, medications, arrival instructions, and post-operative expectations
  • Maintain accurate and organized patient records within the EMR system
  • Provide exceptional customer service and compassionate patient communication throughout the surgical process

Surgical Coordinator Requirements

  • Previous surgery scheduling and insurance experience REQUIRED
  • Ophthalmology experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex medical and financial information clearly
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable discussing finances, insurance benefits, deductibles, and patient responsibilities
  • Positive attitude with a patient-first mindset
  • Strong team player with a willingness to continuously learn and grow
