Compensation: $15$19/hour DOE | Temp-to-Hire
Position Summary
Trinity Employment Specialists is seeking an experienced and patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician to join a busy ophthalmology practice in Bartlesville. This position is ideal for a candidate with previous ophthalmology or optometry experience who enjoys providing exceptional patient care while assisting physicians with diagnostic testing, clinical procedures, and surgical coordination.
The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in ophthalmic testing, comfortable working in a fast-paced specialty clinic, and committed to delivering excellent patient care.
Ophthalmic Technician Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of the Ophthalmologist.
- Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for evaluations and procedures.
- Perform visual acuity testing, including near, distance, and pinhole vision assessments.
- Conduct visual field testing as ordered by the provider.
- Measure intraocular pressure using tonometry.
- Perform ocular motility (eye muscle) testing to evaluate eye movement and alignment.
- Obtain corneal curvature measurements using a keratometer or ophthalmometer.
- Measure axial length and other anatomical ocular measurements as required.
- Administer topical ophthalmic medications and oral medications as directed by the provider.
- Assist physicians during examinations and minor office procedures.
- Coordinate cataract surgery scheduling with the ambulatory surgery center (ASC).
- Obtain insurance prior authorizations for surgical procedures and specialty services.
- Schedule surgical procedures and coordinate pre-operative and post-operative appointments.
- Maintain accurate patient documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Prepare and stock exam rooms while maintaining OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards.
- Perform additional clinical and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Previous experience as an Ophthalmic Technician strongly preferred.
- Experience working in an ophthalmology or optometry practice required.
- Proficiency performing visual acuity testing, visual field testing, tonometry, ocular measurements, and eye muscle testing.
- Experience obtaining insurance prior authorizations and coordinating surgical scheduling preferred.
- Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of ophthalmic terminology and clinical procedures.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and patient care skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with physicians and clinical staff.
