Job Summary
We are seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our team! As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will be responsible for conducting the initial assessment of a patient, including listening to their complaints or concerns, obtaining a relevant medical history, and measuring intraocular pressures, refraction, visual acuities, and more. You will also assist as needed with procedures done by the doctor in-office, help educate patients on eye health and best practices, and maintain an organized, clean work environment at all times. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, exceptional customer service skills, and is extremely organized.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and gather medical history and relevant information for their visit
- Performs technical workups, patient interviews and special testing.
- Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes in schedule, symptoms, surgery scheduling, etc.
- Maintains and cleans all equipment being used.
- Returns phone calls to patients and pharmacies.
- Assists in minor surgery.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents histories.
- Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications.

Qualifications
- Previous experience or training in this or similar position
- Successful completion of Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant requirements-To be successfully completed one year after probation period of 90 days.
- Strong customer service skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Familiarity with basic computer programs, such as Outlook, Chrome, EMA and Modern Medicine (MOD MED)
