Position Overview:
The Ophthalmic Technician supports the Ophthalmology department and physicians by serving as the first point of contact for patients in the exam room. The role involves performing both clinical and technical tasks to assist with patient evaluations and ensure efficient clinic flow.
Key Responsibilities:
Obtain baseline information for the physician, including all ancillary testing
Conduct initial patient history, documenting presenting complaint, past ocular history, medications, and allergies
Measure and record visual acuity, refraction, color testing, lensometry, and intraocular pressure
Perform ancillary testing such as visual fields, corneal topography, HRT, OCT, A & B scans, and fundus photography
Assist with exam preparation and patient flow within the department
Carry out assignments under the supervision of a licensed medical practitioner or health professional
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Minimum 1 year of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician
High school diploma or equivalent required
Strong communication and organizational skills
Ability to multitask and work collaboratively in a clinical environment
Flexibility to float between locations when required
