Ophthalmic Technician

Vision Republic is a new Optometric Practice with an Optical and growing patient base (patient care appointment time us 30 minute between patients). We are seeking a Part-Time Ophthalmic technician to join our office in the Morton Ranch area of Katy. Our mission is to provide a wholesome experience and genuine care for every patient. Our duty to provide exceptional service will arise from efficient work and collaborative team culture in a positive environment.

Requirements:

• Requires High School degree or Equivalent.
• Fluent in Spanish language required.
• The person must be a quick learner, be able to perform multiple duties
• Certified Ophthalmic assistant and 1-2 years of related experience preferred.
• Must be willing and have positive attitude to do work to succeed in our mission.
• Preferred 1+ year experience with EMR/EHR and specifically Revolution360.

Cross trained Duties: Follow patient check-in procedures; perform preliminary tests and disinfect examination room in preparation for doctor’s exam, schedule patients over the phone, inventory, and there will be opportunity to work in optical sales. (Cross trained position to give employees days off when needed and co-workers may cover duties)

• Follow patient check out procedures; process the patient’s fee slip, schedule their next appointment and collect payment.
• Submit vision insurance claims to VSP, UNUM Vision, Eyemed.
• Assist first time contact lens wearers how to insert and remove their contact lenses.
• Answer the phone in a professional manner. Make appointments for patients and verify their insurance prior to patient’s arrival for appointments
• Assist patients to select the appropriate eyewear based on their prescription, lifestyle needs and facial features.
• Be knowledgeable about Vision and Medical benefits to help patients understand their insurance and maximize their savings.
• Adjust, troubleshoot, and perform minor repairs on patient’s eyewear.
• Contact patients when eyewear is ready.
• Place eyeglass and contact lens orders to the lab or vision insurance carrier.
