We are a busy pediatric ophthalmology practice seeking a dependable, experienced
Ophthalmic Technician to join our Miami/Kendall team.
This is a
primarily clinical technician position. Pediatric ophthalmology experience is helpful, but it is
not required. We are willing to provide specialty training to a candidate who already has a strong foundation in ophthalmology and is interested in learning pediatric ophthalmology.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform patient workups efficiently and accurately
- Obtain medical and ocular histories, medications, and relevant clinical information
- Perform visual acuity testing and age-appropriate vision assessments
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures
- Perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing as trained
- Accurately document findings in the EHR
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain clinical supplies and equipment
- Help maintain efficient patient flow and physician schedules
- Recognize when clinical concerns need to be escalated to the physician or manager
- Communicate professionally and compassionately with children, parents, and caregivers
- Follow established clinical protocols and practice procedures
Team Support
Because we are a small, team-oriented practice, all staff members may occasionally assist outside of their primary role when coverage is needed. This may include basic front-office support such as answering phones, scheduling, check-in/check-out, or insurance verification.
Qualifications
- Previous ophthalmology or ophthalmic technician experience strongly preferred
- Pediatric ophthalmology experience is a plus, but not required
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
- Comfortable working with children of all ages
- Strong computer and EHR skills
- Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to multitask
- Able to work independently and take initiative
- Strong attention to detail and clinical judgment
- Professional, positive, and team-oriented
- Willing to learn pediatric ophthalmology protocols and specialty workflows
COA or COT certification is a plus but is not required.

Compensation
$22–$28 per hour, depending on ophthalmology experience, certification, bilingual skills, and overall qualifications.
