Work Environment
This is a full-time, Monday through Friday role within a very fast-paced retina clinic environment. Typical clinic hours range from approximately 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with individual schedules set within this window based on clinic needs; starting at the earliest time or working to the latest time is rare and generally occurs only when the clinic is extremely busy. The position functions as a float role among nearby clinic locations, with travel expected about three days per week and transportation provided; travel time is paid. Training takes place at an administrative building in the Galleria area, after which the ophthalmic technician works on teams of 8-24 colleagues, with each physician supported by a full clinic staff. Employees are generally tied to three primary clinics, with a home clinic in Sugar Land, one of the busiest locations that can see more than 100 patients per day, and additional support provided to other nearby clinics as needed. Schedules are provided two weeks in advance, and on rare occasions, typically for training, staff may be asked to work at a clinic outside their usual three, with mileage reimbursed for those additional locations. The culture emphasizes high performance, clinical excellence, and opportunities for growth, including exposure to advanced clinical research and annual continued education support. The dress code requires navy blue scrubs, short and well-groomed nails, and all hair securely tied back to maintain a professional, safe, and hygienic clinical appearance.
