Ophthalmology Tech

Global Service Resources is seeking an experienced Ophthalmology Technician to support one of our client healthcare facilities in Los Angeles, CA. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in a clinical setting and demonstrate proficiency in ophthalmic testing, patient preparation, and provider support. This position is full-time, onsite, and requires a strong commitment to patient care, accuracy, and clinical workflow efficiency.

Work Schedule

This role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (8?hour shifts). The department may consider earlier or later shifts based on operational and patient care needs.

Pay Rate: $40 - $42/hr DOE

Minimum Qualifications

• At least six (6) months of experience in a healthcare or clinical setting.
• Demonstrated proficiency in ophthalmic testing, patient preparation, and clinical support tasks.
• Ability to follow provider instructions, maintain sterile technique, and ensure safe patient care practices.
• Strong communication skills and comfort working directly with patients and clinical staff.
• Ability to accurately document patient information in electronic medical records (EMR).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment and exam rooms, ensuring equipment is set up according to procedure requirements and maintaining a clean, organized environment.
• Escort patients to exam rooms; obtain basic medical information, medication history, and perform measurements including visual acuity, intraocular pressure, color vision testing, and pupillary response.
• Assist providers during examinations and procedures, including intraocular pressure evaluation, administration of topical eye drops (antibiotic, dilating, anesthetic) as directed, and sterile prepping of areas.
• Prepare medications for injection per provider instruction.
• Perform ophthalmic diagnostic testing such as:
• Formal visual field testing
• Optical coherence tomography (OCT)
• Intraocular lens calculation tests
• Optos color and fluorescein angiography imaging
• Topography
• Ocular ultrasound
• Additional ophthalmic tests as needed
• Provide patient education as authorized, including basic health habits and preventive care guidance.
• Maintain and care for ophthalmic instruments, ensuring proper calibration and reporting any malfunction.
• Enter patient medical information, imaging orders, and progress notes into the electronic medical record accurately and in accordance with facility standards.
