    Classification Minimum Requirements:
    • Bachelor's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacology, or a related field.
    • At least one year of laboratory experience in an academic, clinical, industry, or research setting (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
    • Experience with sample preparation and bioanalytical assays involving biological specimens.
    • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining LC-MS/MS instrumentation.
    • Experience analyzing and interpreting LC-MS/MS data.
    • Knowledge of pharmacokinetic principles and experience performing basic pharmacokinetic analyses.
    • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary research team.
    Job Description:

    The Laboratory Technician will support research activities within the Center for Pharmacometrics and Systems Pharmacology by performing laboratory and data analysis procedures related to drug quantification, pharmacokinetics, and molecular biology. The successful candidate will work closely with faculty and trainees to support ongoing translational and clinical pharmacology research projects. Key responsibilities include:

    • Perform quantitative bioanalysis of drugs and metabolites in biological matrices (e.g., plasma, serum, urine, tissues) using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS).
    • Prepare biological samples for analysis using extraction techniques, including protein precipitation, liquid-liquid extraction, and solid-phase extraction.
    • Develop, optimize, validate, and troubleshoot LC-MS/MS analytical methods following established laboratory procedures.
    • Conduct pharmacokinetic (PK) analyses, including noncompartmental analyses and preparation of data summaries and reports.
    • Perform genotyping analyses, including DNA extraction, PCR-based assays, SNP genotyping, and other pharmacogenomic analyses as required.
    • Conduct gene expression studies, including RNA extraction, reverse transcription, quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR), and related molecular biology techniques.
    • Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and inventories, ensuring compliance with laboratory safety and quality standards.
    • Document experimental procedures, maintain accurate laboratory records, and contribute to study reports and manuscripts.

     This position is located in Orlando, Florida.

    Expected Salary:

    $21-$26/hour, 40 hours/week

    Required Qualifications:

    Preferred:
    • Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
    • Experience with genotyping techniques, including DNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, sequencing, and SNP analysis.
    • Experience with gene expression analysis methods such as RT-qPCR, RNA isolation, and transcriptomic workflows.
    • Experience isolating and characterizing extracellular vesicles and/or exosomes from biological samples.
    • Experience with pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) modeling software, including Phoenix WinNonlin, Monolix, NONMEM, or similar platforms.
    • Experience with bioanalytical method development and validation in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
    • Experience contributing to scientific publications, grant submissions, or presentations.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
