The H2OSAV program is seeking a full-time OPS Web Infrastructure and Systems Support Specialist to support and maintain departmental web systems, server resources, and technical infrastructure. This position will focus on maintaining, improving, and developing web-based resources and supporting the systems that enable reliable operation of departmental applications and services.This position is not intended to function as a traditional help desk or desktop support role. The selected candidate will not primarily assist users with software installations, workstation updates, or general end-user technical support. Instead, this position will focus on strengthening and maintaining web assets, supporting server environments, improving technical systems, and assisting with development initiatives that support departmental operations.The selected candidate will work collaboratively with faculty and staff to support web applications, maintain technical resources, and implement solutions that improve system functionality, reliability, and efficiency.

Classification Minimum Requirements:

• Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Working knowledge of basic web technologies including HTML, CSS, and general website architecture
• Familiarity with one or more programming or scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, PHP, PowerShell, or Bash
• Familiarity with web servers and web-based technologies
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work independently while maintaining attention to detail
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Job Description:
  • Support and maintain departmental web servers, web applications, websites, and related technical infrastructure
  • Monitor system performance and assist with troubleshooting and resolving issues affecting web-based systems and resources
  • Perform maintenance, updates, and documentation of web systems and server assets
  • Assist with development, enhancement, and maintenance of internal tools, scripts, and applications
  • Support website deployment processes and maintain development, testing, and production environments
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and processes to improve operational efficiency
  • Evaluate code to ensure that it is valid, properly structured, secure, aligned with industry standards, and compatible across browsers, devices, and operating systems
  • Assist with implementation of system improvements and technical initiatives
  • Maintain technical documentation, procedures, and inventories of systems and resources
  • Assist with access management, security updates, and general system hardening activities
  • Collaborate with departmental staff and technical partners on projects and ongoing system support activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Expected Salary:

$20-$30 hourly, commensurate with experience

Required Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Web Development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
• Working knowledge of basic web technologies including HTML, CSS, and general website architecture
• Familiarity with one or more programming or scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, PHP, PowerShell, or Bash
• Familiarity with web servers and web-based technologies
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and work independently while maintaining attention to detail
• Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred:
  • Experience with Linux-based systems administration
  • Experience with Apache, Nginx, IIS, or related web server technologies
  • Familiarity with responsive web design principles and browser compatibility considerations
  • Experience with Git or version control systems and deployment workflows
  • Familiarity with databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server
  • Experience with APIs, automation tools, or cloud-hosted environments
  • Familiarity with web accessibility standards and web security best practices
  • Experience supporting or developing web resources in an academic, research, or public-sector environment
