Optical Network Software Upgrade & Grooming Engineer (Offshore)

STAND 8 provides end to end IT solutions to enterprise partners across the United States and with offices in Los Angeles, New York, New Jersey, Atlanta, and more including internationally in Mexico and India.

We're looking for experienced engineers to handle software upgrades and customer circuit grooms on large-scale DWDM optical networks using Ciena, Nokia 1830 PSS, and Nokia/Infinera platforms. This daytime role supports US operations by executing planned upgrades and grooms during maintenance windows.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute software upgrades on Ciena, Nokia, and Infinera optical platforms following detailed MOPs
• Perform customer circuit grooms and reconfigurations during maintenance windows
• Conduct pre- and post-activity health checks, verification, and rollback planning
• Monitor network performance and ensure zero service impact during changes
• Create and update detailed Methods of Procedure for upgrades and grooms
• Document all activities in ticketing systems and provide clear status updates
• Troubleshoot issues during activities and escalate when necessary

Qualifications
Required:

• 3+ years hands-on experience with Ciena, Nokia 1830 PSS, and/or Infinera DWDM platforms
• Strong understanding of DWDM, OTN, and coherent optics
• Experience performing maintenance and changes in live production networks
• Ability to strictly follow procedures while working on live traffic
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Comfortable working US night-time hours during maintenance windows (your daytime)

Preferred (Optional):

• Experience performing customer circuit grooms and migrations
• Optical certifications from Ciena, Nokia, or vendor-neutral programs
• Experience writing and executing MOPs for complex network changes
• Familiarity with the network management systems for these platforms
