Optical Test Technician

ABOUT THE CLIENT

Roboptic is a Taiwanese-founded robotics and optical systems company well founded

Building a new greenfield manufacturing facility in Hutto, TX to produce high-speed optical transceivers

HR on Demand is partnering with Roboptic to hire for several production and engineering roles

ABOUT THE ROLE

Hands-on, production-floor role testing optical transceiver modules to make sure every unit meets quality standards

Work closely with Test Engineers, Quality, and Production teams as the new lines ramp up

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Set up and operate optical test stations following work instructions and SOPs

Run functional and performance tests using equipment such as optical power meters, OSAs, and BERT testers

Clean, inspect, and handle fiber connectors and optical components (fiber scope inspection)

Record test results accurately in test software / MES and flag failing units

Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate issues to Test Engineers

Support equipment checks and calibration, and keep test areas organized (5S)

Follow ESD, cleanroom, and safety procedures at all times

Help train new technicians as the team grows

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or GED

1–3 years of experience in electronics or optical testing, assembly, or manufacturing

Ability to follow detailed work instructions and use basic computer software

Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail for handling small, delicate parts

Able to stand or sit for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs

Willing to work fully onsite and support shift work or overtime as needed

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience with optical transceivers, fiber optics, or telecom/datacom products

Fiber optic certification (e.g., FOA CFOT) or IPC-A-610 training

Experience in a cleanroom or ESD-controlled environment

Associate degree or technical certificate in electronics or a related field
