POSITION PURPOSE:
This position is engaged in performing routine administrative and clinical tasks to keep EVCHC's optometry operations running smoothly. The Optometric Technician works closely with Optometrist to support the maintenance and delivery of excellent and quality patient care services.
MAJOR POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND FUNCTIONS:
- Temporary assignment 3 months.
- Greet patient in a professional and pleasant manner.
- Obtain and document patient history.
- Perform pre-exam tests, including A/R, color testing, VA's, stereo vision, lensometry, pupil testing, ocular motilities, IOP's and dilation.
- Assist doctor in minor procedures.
- Responsible for maintaining a steady patient flow for the doctor.
- Performs diagnostic testing - OCT/fundus photos, Visual Fields, pachymetry, etc.
- Refers patient questions regarding diagnoses or test results to the doctor.
- Responsible for keeping exam rooms clean and well stocked with necessary supplies.
- Maintain a proper inventory of back office supplies.
- Ensure timely cleaning of equipment-slit lamp, indirect, lenses, etc.
- Direct patients with spectacle Rx to optical.
- Perform recall tasks, to include following up on all missed appointments.
- Assist optician in the selection, fitting/measuring, adjusting, ordering and checking-in of patients glasses.
- Provide patient education on the use of soft and gas permeable contact lenses; insertion and removal, maintenance, and overall care and instructions.
- Responsible for maintaining program logs, as assigned by the Clinic Manager or doctor.
- Reviews all forms to insure that charts are completed after each patient visit.
- Responsible for clinic closure duties, to include securing facility at the end of the shift, as assigned.
- Responsible for complying with HIPPA standards and observing strict patient confidentiality.
- Other job duties and responsibilities as assigned.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years of experience.
- Ability to work well with patients.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
- High School diploma or equivalent.

DOE: $23.00 - $27.16
