    Role Description This Full -time Optician role is an on-site position based at AVON EYE CARE in Avon, CT. The Optician will assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames and lenses, interpret prescriptions, and provide guidance on lens options and coatings to meet visual and lifestyle needs. Day-to-day responsibilities include fitting and adjusting eyewear, verifying lens specifications, and ensuring proper functioning and comfort of glasses. The role also involves supporting patient flow, coordinating with the optometrist on eye exam findings related to eyewear, maintaining inventory of frames and lenses, and contributing to a positive, efficient office environment. The Optician will deliver attentive customer service, respond to patient questions, and help uphold high standards of care and satisfaction.

    Qualifications

    • \n
    • Demonstrated knowledge of optics, including lens types, materials, and basic troubleshooting of visual complaints.
    • \n
    • Experience supporting optometry services, collaborating with eye care professionals, and understanding the eyewear needs that follow eye exams.
    • \n
    • Strong customer service and customer satisfaction skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, listen actively, and build trust with patients.
    • \n
    • Familiarity with eye exams and prescription interpretation sufficient to recommend appropriate lens and frame options.
    • \n
    • Previous experience as an optician or in an optical setting preferred; License preferred but not required.
    • \n
    • Attention to detail and manual dexterity for accurate fitting, measuring (PD, segment height), and adjusting frames.
    • \n
    • Basic computer skills for scheduling, recordkeeping, and use of practice management or optical software.
    • \n
    • Ability to stand, move, and work in a clinical/retail environment for extended periods, and to work part-time hours as scheduled.
