    Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Optician role based in Glen Ellyn, IL. The Optician will assist patients in selecting and fitting eyeglass frames and lenses, interpreting prescriptions, and advising on lens options and coatings based on visual needs and lifestyle. Daily responsibilities include measuring facial and ocular parameters, adjusting and repairing eyewear, and ensuring orders are accurately processed and delivered. The role also involves supporting the optometry team during patient flow, answering questions about eye care products, handling basic administrative tasks, and maintaining a clean, organized optical dispensary. The Optician is expected to provide excellent customer service, promote patient satisfaction, and uphold practice standards and policies.

    • Strong knowledge of optics and lens technologies, including frame selection, lens materials, and fitting techniques.

    • Understanding of optometry and general eye care practices to support the clinical team and patient education.
    • \n
    • Demonstrated commitment to customer service and customer satisfaction in a healthcare or retail environment.
    • \n
    • Ability to support eye exams workflow, including patient intake, pre-testing assistance, and coordination with optometrists.
    • \n
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered and professional approach.
    • \n
    • High attention to detail and accuracy when interpreting prescriptions and processing eyewear orders.
    • \n
    • Comfort with basic computer systems and practice management or point-of-sale software.
    • \n
    • Previous experience as an optician or in an optical/eye care setting preferred; relevant certification or licensure is a plus, where applicable.

    • Ability to stand for extended periods, perform fine manual adjustments on eyewear, and work flexible part-time hours.
