The School of Optometry is looking for a part-time registered optician to provide high-quality training and education for students in the School of Optometry's optical shop, 10 Optical. This is a part-time position, with onsite requirements on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. This employee may also be asked to cover 10 Optical periodically as well. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Provides appropriate patient education regarding lens and frame options. Ensures the timely processing of daily patient orders. Completes verification of insurance or vision care coverage for optical products and services. Oversees the collection of patient payments, the submission of accurate billing information, and the posting of charges and payments in the system. Supervises and coordinates activities of student interns. Provides supervision and instruction in optical labs, including edging. Keeps current details on vision care plans and other third-party payers. Helps with inventory management and control. * Use of edging equipment.
