Job Summary
Assist patients with selecting frames
Obtain measurements for glasses orders
Adjust frames and lenses to fit correctly on patients faces
Order frames, lenses and contacts from prescription laboratories
Manage inventory of frames
Responsibilities
Assist patients in selection of best eyewear for their individual needs
Recommend specific lenses, lens coatings, and frames to suit patient’s individual needs.
Measure patient’s pupillary distance, and optical centers of eyes.
Place orders for frames, lenses and contacts from prescription laboratories
Heat, shape, or bend plastic or metal frames to adjust eyeglasses to fit clients, using pliers and hands.
Maintain records of frame inventory, invoices and patient orders
Verify that finished lenses are ground to specifications.
Skills
Friendly customer service and skilled ophthalmic sales
Excellent attention to detail, particularly for interpreting prescriptions and checking lenses
Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly to patients
Familiarity with optical products
The ability to work effectively as part of a team
Ability to meet deadlines
Schedule Monday to Friday
Experience 3+ years as dispensing optician ABO Certification (preferred) VSP Billing (preferred)
