Introduction to the job
Shift Planning is responsible for ensuring that the execution of the weekly production plan is realized. Working closely with material planning, warehouse operators, and the logistics team, a shift planner coordinates material flow and validates time in full material readiness into the work center.
In conjunction with the Production Planning department, working within, and understanding the production process, plant procedures, equipment capabilities and flow of goods within the facility by providing ready to execute detailed plans based on all constraints, actual work in progress and buffer status daily.
The Manufacturing sector within the Wilton Factory (WF) is responsible for the production of EXE, NXE, DUV, and APPS systems. The Shift Planner reports to the Manufacturing Planning Team/Group Lead and works closely with Manufacturing (workstream owners, operators, and TLs/GLs), Sourcing & Supply Chain Management, Material Handling, Warehouse and Production Logistics teams.
Responsibilities
Responsible for the planning, monitoring, and adjustment of daily production activities of assigned areas so that the agreed production plan is realized with optimized work-in-progress and stock levels
Secure material availability for planned production activities within the 4 week horizon, mitigate and escalate shortages, and define and execute structural improvements to prevent material issues in the future
Secure logistical requirements and create buy-level upgrade orders for WIP during engineering change process and execution to secure an optimal implementation and production throughput in the factory.
Work cross-functionally with logistics to coordinate material flow from warehouse to the work center on time and in full
Responsible for the report out of production progress, proactively identifying risks and impact to output and planned production starts for the next week, and proposing mitigations regarding plan optimization to the production planner
Attend Tier meetings and escalate production risks to production planner
Align facilities, manufacturing equipment, tooling and resource plan with capacity requirements and drive timely decision making for capacity extension
Correct plan levelling, batch sizing and capacity utilization, in the most efficient and cost-effective way for the optimal use of critical resources
Monitor and coordinate Kanban's in assigned areas
Initiate and provide input to improve cycle times and delivery processes within the factory
Navigate and input information in ERP
Track individual shift planning key performance indicators, create analysis reports in MS Excel in the form of pivot tables and charts to be presented out to stakeholders, determine root cause analysis and drive actions to improve performance
Actively participate and present in meetings with stakeholders and fellow planners (utilizing Excel and PowerPoint)
Be a subject matter expert on 1 or more production planning processes. As subject matter expert be the 'go-to' person for the team in case of issues, tracking KPI, training and drive structural improvements in the planning team.
Lead at least one cross-functional improvement project
Effectively plan for assigned backup area when the business requires
