Position Overview

Trusted Medical is seeking licensed Optometrists to perform Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations and disability evaluations for Veterans. This role involves conducting in-person eye and vision assessments, completing Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs), and providing medical opinions to support the VA disability claims process.

This is a non-treatment position focused exclusively on evaluations and documentation. No prescribing, treatment planning, or follow-up care is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive optometric and vision examinations for Veterans.
  • Perform and interpret ophthalmologic and vision testing necessary to assess claimed conditions.
  • Review relevant medical and military records.
  • Complete Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) accurately and thoroughly.
  • Provide objective medical opinions when required.
  • Document findings in accordance with VA and company standards.
  • Maintain compliance with all organizational, state, and federal regulations.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care and professionalism during all Veteran interactions.
  • Submit completed documentation within established timelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, active, unrestricted Optometrist license in the state where services are performed.
  • Ophthalmologists with active, unrestricted licensure may also be considered.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining high-quality documentation standards.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience performing optometric examinations.
  • Experience conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) examinations.
  • Experience serving Veterans, military populations, or government healthcare programs.
  • Familiarity with Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs).
  • Experience using electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems.

Technical Skills

  • Experience with electronic health record systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday
  • Flexible scheduling available
  • 4-hour, 8-hour, and 10-hour shifts available
  • No weekends
  • No federal holidays

Additional locations may become available based on contract needs.

Required Health Screening

  • Current TB screening (within the last 12 months)
  • Hepatitis B titer documentation (within the last 12 months)

  • COVID-19 vaccination and boosters

  • Varicella titers
  • Tdap immunization
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination
