Golden Plains Community Hospital invites an Ophthalmologist to join our dedicated team. Enjoy a balanced Monday-through-Friday schedule from 8 am to 5 pm in Borger, just 52 miles from Amarillo. Our location offers easy access to New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Dallas, each about five hours away. - Eye Exams: Perform vision and eye tests to determine visual acuity, depth perception, focus, and hand-eye coordination.
- Diagnosis & Treatment: Detect and diagnose sight problems (e.g., myopia, astigmatism) and eye diseases like glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
- Prescriptions: Prescribe corrective eyeglasses, contact lenses, and therapeutic medications to treat eye conditions.
- Patient Care: Counsel patients on eye hygiene, nutrition, and safety factors that impact eyesight, and provide vision therapy or low-vision rehabilitation.
- Referrals & Surgery: Manage pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients and refer complex cases (like retinal detachment or severe trauma) to board-certified ophthalmologists.
- Systemic Health Evaluation: Recognize ocular manifestations of systemic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
- Education: Bachelor's degree, typically in a science-related field like biology, chemistry, or health sciences.
- Licensing: An active, valid state optometry license, usually requiring passage of the National Board of Examiners in Optometry (NBEO) exam.
- Clinical Skills: Proficiency with ophthalmic equipment (e.g., phoropter, retinal cameras, slit lamps).
- Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and the ability to clearly communicate diagnoses and treatment plans to patients
Annual income range: $114500-$147500
Sign-on bonus up to $30,000
Relocation assistance up to $30,000 (with receipts)
