Position Overview
New York & New Jersey Eye Institute is seeking a dedicated, patient-focused, and clinically skilled Optometrist (OD) to join our growing ophthalmology practice. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive eye care services, diagnose and manage ocular conditions, perform advanced diagnostic testing, and collaborate closely with ophthalmologists to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, vision assessments, and refractive evaluations.
- Prescribe and manage eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision correction solutions.
- Monitor and manage patients with chronic eye conditions and develop individualized treatment plans.
- Co-manage pre-operative and post-operative surgical patients in collaboration with ophthalmologists.
- Educate patients regarding eye health, treatment options, disease prevention, and proper vision care.
- Coordinate patient care with ophthalmologists, primary care providers, specialists, and referring physicians.
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to patient satisfaction initiatives and support the continued growth of the practice.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current NJ/NY Optometry License in good standing.
- Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agent (TPA) certification, if required by state regulations.
- Strong diagnostic, clinical decision-making, and patient management skills.
- Experience in a medical optometry or ophthalmology-based practice preferred.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative, multidisciplinary ophthalmology team.
Compensation:
Compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and interview evaluation.
