Optometrist – PRN Coverage Oct 2026

Texas Eye and Cataract is seeking an experienced Optometrist for PRN coverage 1-4 days per week in October at our flagship medical and surgical eye care center in Midlothian, Texas.

This is an ideal opportunity for an OD looking to pick up additional clinical days without committing to a full-time position. Walk into an established practice with a great team, dedicated exam lanes, experienced support staff, and an organized patient schedule so you can focus on what matters most: taking great care of patients.

About the Role

You'll work alongside our ophthalmology and optometry team providing medical and routine optometric care in a busy surgical practice.

Typical responsibilities may include:

• Comprehensive and medical eye examinations
• Management of routine ocular conditions and disease
• Cataract and surgical post-operative care
• Refractions and routine vision care
• Collaboration with our surgeons, technicians, and clinical team
• Approximately 30 patients per clinical day

Experience with surgical co-management is helpful, but we're also open to an experienced OD who is comfortable learning our clinical workflows and protocols.

Why This PRN Opportunity Stands Out

• $750–$1,000 per day, based on experience and coverage needs
• PRN scheduling
• Approximately 30 patients per day
• Dedicated exam lanes
• Designated clinical support staff
• Established patient base
• Modern medical and surgical eye care environment
• Experienced technicians and administrative support
• Collaborative physician and leadership team
• Opportunity for additional coverage or future collaboration if mutually beneficial

Come in, see patients, and practice. Our team handles the operational support around you.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an OD who is clinically confident but equally strong with people.

Our ideal candidate:

• Holds a Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited institution
• Maintains an active Texas optometry license in good standing
• Is comfortable managing approximately 30 patients per day with appropriate clinical support
• Has experience with medical optometry and ocular disease
• Surgical co-management experience is preferred, but not required
• Communicates well with patients, technicians, and fellow providers
• Is adaptable, dependable, and comfortable joining an established team
• Believes an excellent patient experience is just as important as excellent clinical care
