Overview
We are seeking an experienced Oracle OCI Cloud Engineer / Database Administrator to support the administration, maintenance, migration, and optimization of enterprise Oracle database environments. This role is responsible for ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of critical database infrastructure while supporting cloud initiatives, production operations, and high-availability environments. The ideal candidate will have extensive Oracle database administration experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to provide on-call production support in a fast-paced enterprise environment.

Job Description
The Oracle OCI Cloud Engineer will support enterprise Oracle database environments by administering, maintaining, and optimizing mission-critical database systems while assisting with cloud infrastructure initiatives. This position plays a key role in database migrations, backup and recovery planning, performance tuning, production support, and ensuring high availability across Oracle environments. The successful candidate will collaborate with technical teams to maintain stable, secure, and efficient database operations while supporting ongoing modernization efforts.
Responsibilities
Database Administration
- Administer and maintain Oracle Database 19c and later environments.
- Perform Oracle Grid Control 13c administration and monitoring.
- Manage Oracle APEX administration and ongoing platform support.
- Execute database maintenance, upgrades, and system health monitoring.
- Ensure database security, availability, and operational stability.
Database Migration & High Availability
- Lead Oracle database migrations from Solaris to Linux environments.
- Manage Oracle RMAN backup and recovery processes.
- Configure and support Oracle Data Guard environments.
- Maintain disaster recovery readiness and database resiliency.
Performance & Operational Support
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
- Troubleshoot complex production database issues.
- Monitor system performance and implement corrective actions.
- Participate in production on-call rotation.
- Provide after-hours and weekend support as required by workload.
Cloud & Infrastructure Support
- Support Oracle cloud administration initiatives.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams supporting enterprise cloud environments.
- Assist with database integration across enterprise platforms.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Work closely with technical teams to support enterprise database operations.
- Document configurations, maintenance activities, and operational procedures.
- Support enterprise database best practices and operational standards.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 10 years of experience performing Oracle database migration from Solaris to Linux (Oracle Database 11g/12c).
- 10 years of experience with Oracle database backup, recovery, RMAN, and Data Guard.
- 10 years of experience with Oracle database performance tuning, maintenance, and management.
- 10 years of experience providing production on-call support.
- 7 years of experience with Oracle Grid Control, including version 13c.
- 5 years of experience administering and supporting Oracle APEX.
- Experience supporting Oracle Database 19c and newer versions.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship, now or in the future.
- Must be willing and able to work onsite in Richmond, VA 100% of the time once restrictions are lifted.

Preferred Qualifications
- 7 years of experience with Oracle WebLogic 12c / Fusion Middleware.
