Job Title: Oral Surgery Assistant – Front Desk & Surgical Assisting
Location: San Francisco, CA
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $20.00 – $40.00 per hour (based on experience level and certifications)

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an Oral Surgery Assistant for a contract-to-hire opportunity in San Francisco, CA. This hybrid role combines both front office responsibilities and surgical assisting duties within a fast-paced oral surgery practice.

This opportunity is open to candidates of all experience levels, from entry-level professionals to experienced oral surgery assistants. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, patient-focused, and comfortable supporting both administrative and clinical operations. This position offers strong long-term potential for full-time permanent placement.

Schedule

  • Front Desk Responsibilities: Monday – Wednesday

  • Surgical Assisting Responsibilities: Thursday – Friday

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and check in patients in a professional and welcoming manner

  • Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments

  • Answer incoming phone calls, emails, and voicemails

  • Maintain patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations

  • Communicate with patients regarding insurance coverage and financial responsibilities

  • Assist the doctor during oral surgery procedures

  • Prepare and maintain surgical treatment rooms and instruments

  • Take dental X-rays, CBCT scans, and clinical photographs

  • Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures

  • Provide post-operative instructions and patient education

  • Follow sterilization, infection control, and safety protocols

  • Support overall office operations and patient experience

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • X-ray certification required

  • DAANCE certification preferred but not required

    • Dental Anesthesia Assistant National Certification Examination (DAANCE)

  • Dental assisting or oral surgery experience preferred but not required

  • Open to entry-level through senior-level candidates

  • Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills

  • Ability to work in both administrative and clinical environments

  • Bilingual candidates are a plus

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of oral surgery procedures and terminology

  • Experience with patient scheduling and dental software systems

  • Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and infection control procedures

  • Strong patient service and interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment
