Job Description

Job Title: Organic Inspector (1099 Contractor) Location: Flexible / Regional Travel Required Compensation: Per inspection / contract-based (1099)

About the Opportunity: We are partnering with areputable organization in the organic certification space to identify an experienced Organic Inspector to support a growing portfolio of clients. This is a 1099 contract role offering flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to work across a diverse range of organic operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct on-site organic inspections for:Review organic system plans and verify compliance with USDA National Organic Program (NOP) standards
    • Crop production operations
    • Poultry and livestock facilities
    • Handling and processing facilities
  • Collect detailed audit information, including records, inputs, and operational practices
  • Prepare and submit accurate, timely inspection reports
  • Maintain professionalism and neutrality while interacting with clients
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in organic agriculture, auditing, or inspection preferred
  • IOIA (International Organic Inspectors Association) training strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of USDA Organic / NOP standards
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage scheduling/travel
  • Excellent written communication and reporting abilities
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within assigned territory
Ideal Candidate:
  • Background in agronomy, animal science, or organic production
  • Experience with multiple operation types (crops, livestock, processing)
  • Self-motivated with a high level of integrity and professionalism
