Job Title: Organic Inspector (1099 Contractor) Location: Flexible / Regional Travel Required Compensation: Per inspection / contract-based (1099)
About the Opportunity: We are partnering with areputable organization in the organic certification space to identify an experienced Organic Inspector to support a growing portfolio of clients. This is a 1099 contract role offering flexibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to work across a diverse range of organic operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct on-site organic inspections for:Review organic system plans and verify compliance with USDA National Organic Program (NOP) standards
- Crop production operations
- Poultry and livestock facilities
- Handling and processing facilities
- Collect detailed audit information, including records, inputs, and operational practices
- Prepare and submit accurate, timely inspection reports
- Maintain professionalism and neutrality while interacting with clients
Qualifications:- Prior experience in organic agriculture, auditing, or inspection preferred
- IOIA (International Organic Inspectors Association) training strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of USDA Organic / NOP standards
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and manage scheduling/travel
- Excellent written communication and reporting abilities
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within assigned territory
Ideal Candidate:- Background in agronomy, animal science, or organic production
- Experience with multiple operation types (crops, livestock, processing)
- Self-motivated with a high level of integrity and professionalism
