Job Summary

Reporting to Learning and Organizational Development (L&OD),the Senior Organizational Development Consultant (Sr. OD) , supports strategic change management, employee engagement, organizational development, leader and team effectiveness, and talent management as part of Human Resources' (HR) larger talent strategy. The Sr. OD Consultant position executes L&OD projects, programs and initiatives as assigned and does so with a high degree of autonomy through strategy development, program management, consulting, coaching, and facilitation.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• Bachelor's degree in business administration or other related field and/or equivalent experience and training
• Combined minimum of ten (10) years of experience leading change in institutions of significant complexity and breadth.
• Experience building coalitions and consulting with, coaching, facilitating, and influencing people at all levels, including managers and executives across diverse stakeholder groups.
• Experience working with highly complex issues or problems which require analysis of unique issues/problems without precedent and/or structure.
• Experience independently analyzing complex data and situations to identify problems and relevant factors; formulating logical conclusions and providing a sound basis for establishing priorities and selecting appropriate courses of action.
• Experience using proven methodologies to develop and implement change management plans.
• Demonstrated experience training and motivating diverse audiences, applying adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies.
• Experience in project and program management to effectively monitor and manage multiple/large-scale initiatives with overlapping deadlines and tasks.
• Demonstrates strong analytical, problem-solving, consulting, project planning and implementation skills.
• Applies strong verbal and written communication skills to interpret, present, and communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner including to executive audiences.
• Interpersonal and conflict management skills to interact effectively with all levels of the organization from a wide variety of functional areas, including expert facilitation skills to lead small to large groups through decision making, team effectiveness, and strategic planning discussions.
• Ability to manage programs that include formulating strategies and administering policies, processes, and resources; functions with a high degree of autonomy to facilitate and/or lead cross-functional project teams and/or committees to solve complex organizational issues.
• Exercises the utmost discretion in managing sensitive information learned in the course of programs, projects, engagements, and coaching including confidential personnel records, financial data, strategic plans, proprietary information, and any other sensitive or non-public information.
• Advanced knowledge of the learning and organizational development and effectiveness, leadership development, and talent management fields, theories, models to assess, design and implement customized, strategic organization interventions, using a standard consulting process to lead engagements from inception to conclusion.
• Advanced ability to assess and evaluate program and engagement effectiveness and impact on business outcomes.

• Master's degree in organization development or related field.
• Experience managing performance appraisal programs and talent review and planning for large, complex academic and/or healthcare organizations.
• Previous experience supporting change management for culture of safety and high reliability initiatives or other cultural transformations in healthcare.
• Previous experience leading employee experience initiatives including survey implementations.

Department Overview

Learning and Organizational Development (L&OD) in Human Resources manages organization-wide programs, engagements and initiatives for UC Davis and UC Davis Health in support of organizational effectiveness. Initiatives include individual and manager/leader professional and career development, talent and performance management, employee engagement, change management, and strategic planning. L&OD ensures HR, HRBPs and HR liaisons have the tools and support required to work directly with their departments at both the academic and health campuses, providing expert consulting for HR initiatives such as performance management, employee engagement, employee recognition, succession planning, and curricula to support the skill development and training compliance needs of their staff, supervisors, and managers. L&OD supports approximately 26,000 staff, faculty, and students (Faculty and Academic; 4,500 FTE; Staff 16,500 FTE; Student Employees 5,000 FTE) and there are approximately fifteen (15) collective agreements for unionized staff, as well as personnel policies for Senior Management, Management, Professional, Support and Academic staff.
