• A master's degree in Organizational Leadership or a related discipline from an accredited institution
• University teaching experience in Organizational Leadership or a related discipline

The program invites applications for this faculty position in Organizational Leadership & Learning. The candidate should have expertise in Business and Data Analytics, Assessment, Organizational Leadership, Strategic Leadership, Contextual Leadership, Organizational Learning and Development, Entrepreneurship, Professional Development, Talent Development, Organizational Learning, Learning Analytics, Project Management, or closely related areas.

Candidates who can demonstrate the following are desired:

• Professional experience to facilitate students' application of principles and concepts related to entrepreneurship, data and assessment, learning analytics, leadership, career development, and professional development.
• Experience with in-person and online teaching/training/professional development.
• Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills.
• Applied professional experience in the discipline(s) being taught, demonstrating real-world knowledge and current industry practices.

License/Certification Required Description of the Department or Unit

The Department of Media, Career Studies, and Leadership Development is one of five departments in the Reich College of Education, offering programs that prepare students for employment in a wide variety of teaching, administrative, and service roles, as well as employment or career advancement in business and industry. The department includes programs in Career and Technical Education; Organizational Leadership & Learning; Media, Technology and Learning Design; and International Leadership. The department serves students at the main campus in Boone and the new Hickory campus, as well as App State Online students.

The Organizational Leadership and Learning Flight Path Program is a project-based program designed to meet the needs of each student. All students will engage with universal concepts that apply to every career path, such as:

• Leadership and management foundations
• Effective communication and teamwork
• Career management
• Project management
• Professional learning and development
• Entrepreneurial thinking and innovative problem-solving
• Data analysis, digital literacy, and the use of technology in leadership

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching

• Extensive teaching in online, hybrid, and on-campus environments.
• Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses related to Business and Data Analytics, Assessment, Organizational Leadership, Strategic Leadership, Contextual Leadership, Organizational Learning and Development, Entrepreneurship, Professional Development, Talent Development, Organizational Learning, Learning Analytics, Project Management, or closely related areas.
• Create and update curriculum materials to reflect advancements in the field.
• Foster an inclusive and engaging learning environment that encourages critical thinking and creativity.

Student Advising and Mentorship

• Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, guiding them in their academic and career pursuits.

Service, Leadership, and Engagement

• Participate in departmental and institutional committees and contribute to academic program development.
• Collaborate with colleagues on innovative projects and initiatives.
• Engage with the broader academic and professional communities through outreach and service.

ABD with reduction in rank and salary: ABD will be considered for this position. Evidence of successful defense of the dissertation must be received by July 31 for a fall hire or November 30 for a spring hire. If confirmation of defense is not provided by the deadline, the candidate will receive a new one-year fixed-term contract and be hired at the rank of Instructor. The candidate's salary will also be reduced to a lower rate commensurate with other full-time instructors in the same department. However, if degree verification is provided before the end of the one-year fixed-term contract, the candidate will be returned to the rank of assistant professor with commensurate compensation beginning July 1 of the following academic year.

No ABD consideration: Only candidates with an earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution will be considered for the position. Since ABD will not meet the minimum requirements, ABD will not be considered.
