The Orion GN&C Engineer will support the space program located in Houston, TX.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and evaluate safety-critical, human-rated GN&C flight software.
- Develop, integrate, and test new GN&C algorithms.
- Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for evaluation of vehicle and mission performance.
- Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for trajectory optimizations.
- Provide recommendations for improvements in design and software development processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED

- Must have a bachelors degree in the field of engineering.
- Must have 1 year of recent and related work experience.
- Experience with Kalman filters.
- Experience with development of modeling spacecraft systems performance.
- Knowledge in the development of GN&C algorithms and spacecraft system analysis.
- Experience with development and analysis of 6 DOF algorithms and simulations.
- Experience with orbital mechanics and GN&C principles.
- Experience with design verification testing and operation of GN&C software.
- Experience with Linux, Python, MATLAB, Simulink, and C/C++.
- Experience with Git/GitLab version control.
- Experience with the development of space system requirements and documents.
DESIRED
- Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and/or Machine Learning.
- Experience with safety-critical, human-rated embedded software development.
- Experience with Object-oriented software development.
- Experience with Agile software development.
- Experience with spacecraft rendezvous, proximity operations, and docking.
- Familiarity with spacecraft docking systems.
- Working knowledge of NASA JSC and ISS standard practices and requirements, including safety.
- Experience with NASA flight operations and procedures.
- Familiarity with NASA JSC documentation databases and SharePoint sites.
- Experience with the NASA Trick simulation architecture and JEOD (JSC Engineering Orbital Dynamics).
WORK LOCATION
- This position is located onsite and offers a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off; some travel may be required.
- Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED

- Generally an office environment but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. 5% of the time.
- Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
