Responsibilities
Assist orthodontists during various procedures including bracket placement, wire adjustments, and appliance fittings with precision and efficiency
Prepare treatment areas by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques to ensure infection control standards are met
Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans and medical imaging, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy
Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, ensuring accurate documentation of medical history, treatment plans, and progress notes
Educate patients on orthodontic care instructions, appliance maintenance, and oral hygiene practices tailored to pediatric dentistry needs
Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, and assisting the dental receptionist with patient check-in/out processes
Maintain knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy to effectively communicate with team members and explain procedures to patients
Requirements
Proven experience as a dental assistant with a focus on orthodontics or general dentistry; familiarity with pediatric dentistry is a plus
Proficiency in dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, vital signs measurement, and use of medical documentation tools
Knowledge of infection control protocols, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures in a clinical setting
Ability to operate dental equipment such as X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and medical imaging devices confidently
Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical coding for accurate recordkeeping
Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the team and provide outstanding patient care in a fast-paced environment
Orthodontic experience preferred but we’re happy to train the right person
Travel between two offices on a rotation base.
