Job Description: The Nurse Practitioner / Orthopedic Physician Assistant (NP/PA) plays a vital role in delivering high-quality perioperative patient care in collaboration with orthopedic surgeons. This position is based primarily in the operating room of a high-volume ambulatory surgery center and provides direct surgical support, including first assisting during operative procedures. Responsibilities are exclusively perioperative and include preoperative preparation, intraoperative support, and postoperative management. There are no clinic or office-based responsibilities associated with this role. The ideal candidate has strong orthopedic experience—particularly in total joint replacement—and thrives in a fast-paced outpatient surgical environment with a strong focus on patient safety, efficiency, and teamwork. Interpersonal Relationships: As a representative of NEBSC, all comments, attitudes, actions, and behaviors directly influence the facility’s image and the perception of quality care. The NP/PA is expected to interact with patients, families, physicians, referral sources, visitors, vendors, and colleagues in a friendly, supportive, courteous, respectful, and professional manner. MACHINES/EQUIPMENT USED: Clinical equipment used for patient care, including but not limited to: EKG monitors, cautery units, defibrillators, camera and visualization systems, pain pump systems, microscopes, tourniquets, suction equipment, OR beds, ultrasonic cleaners, blanket warmers, autoclaves, fluoroscopy (OEC), RF equipment, and standard office equipment such as computers, telephones, and fax machines. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled surgical environment. The role involves exposure to blood and body fluids, infectious diseases, chemical and electrical hazards, and occasional exposure to outdoor conditions. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
