    Orthopedic Spine Surgeon (MD/DO)

    Must be legally licensed to practice medicine in North Dakota and/or Minnesota, depending on the location of the practice to which you are assigned

    Position Summary

    The Orthopedic Spine Surgeon provides comprehensive surgical and non-surgical care for patients with disorders of the spine. This role includes evaluation, diagnosis, operative and perioperative management of spinal conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Evaluate and manage patients with spinal disorders including degenerative disease, trauma, deformity, tumors, and infections
    • Diagnose and treat conditions such as spinal stenosis, disc herniation, spondylolisthesis, scoliosis, and spinal instability
    • Perform spine surgical procedures consistent with training and privileges, including minimally invasive and complex reconstructive techniques
    • Provide non-operative spine care including injections, bracing, and rehabilitation planning as appropriate
    • Manage perioperative and postoperative care, including complications and recovery
    • Participate in emergency and on-call coverage for spine-related conditions
    • Interpret diagnostic studies including X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and other spinal imaging
    • Collaborate with neurosurgery, pain management, physical medicine and rehabilitation, anesthesia, and physical therapy
    • Educate patients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, surgical risks, and expected outcomes
    • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
    • Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and outcomes initiatives
    • Supervise and educate residents, fellows, advanced practice providers, or trainees as applicable
    • Comply with all regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards

     

    Qualifications

    • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited medical school
    • Completion of an accredited orthopedic surgery residency program
    • Fellowship training in spine surgery
    • Board-eligible or board-certified in Orthopedic Surgery
    • Ability to obtain and maintain unrestricted state medical licensure
    • DEA registration or eligibility

    • Expertise in operative and non-operative spine care
    • Strong clinical judgment and advanced surgical skills
    • Ability to manage complex spinal pathology and high-acuity cases
    • Excellent communication and patient counseling abilities
    • Commitment to evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and patient safety

     

    Work Environment

    • Hospital operating rooms, outpatient clinics, ambulatory surgery centers, and inpatient units
    • Call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays as required

     

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand for extended periods during surgical procedures
    • Manual dexterity and physical stamina for complex operative cases
    • Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for operative and clinical care

    Requirements

    Must maintain state certification and/or licensure.
