Our facility is a 295-bed hospital that offers training, primary care, and specialized healthcare services across various medical fields for eligible Veterans. We are a Joint Commission-accredited, level 1a complexity teaching hospital, providing tertiary-level care.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary: $325,000 - $400,000 annually
- Performance Bonuses: Annual bonuses and regular salary increments.
- Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year, which includes:
- 26 days of annual leave
- 13 days of sick leave
- 11 paid Federal holidays
- Up to 5 days of paid absence for Continuing Medical Education (CME)
- Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and a federal 401K with contributions up to 5% from the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate expertise in General Orthopedic Surgery, particularly in routine orthopedic trauma with a specialization in shoulder surgery.
- Lead initiatives to enhance service delivery within the facility.
- Provide clinical care, support residents and mid-level practitioners, and ensure thorough patient evaluations.
- Collaborate with both internal and external providers to ensure seamless patient care.
- Promote a positive work environment and maintain strong professional relationships with staff, peers, and Veterans.
- Engage in consultations and actively participate in hospital and departmental committees, educational programs, and peer review processes.
- Join a collaborative call schedule with three other orthopedic surgeons.
- Work alongside a dedicated team of six skilled mid-level practitioners and an orthopedic resident.
- Train orthopedic residents from our academic partner, the University of Arizona.
Work Schedule:
Monday to Friday, from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
Requirements:
- Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-U.S. Citizens may be considered if qualified U.S. candidates cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy.
- Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent qualification from an accredited medical or osteopathic institution.
- Current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license in all U.S. states.
- Successful completion of Residency Training in the United States.
Preferred Experience:
- General orthopedic experience is essential, with a focus on shoulder surgeries, including shoulder arthroscopies and total/reverse shoulder arthroplasties.
- Fellowship training in shoulder surgery or sports medicine is highly preferred, with proficiency in managing routine trauma cases such as hip fractures.
- Board-certified or board-eligible orthopedic surgeon.
