To provide specialized orthopedic and bariatric care and coordination under the supervision of the director or designee or under MD supervision in compliance with hospital policies and procedures. The coordinator functions on the multidisciplinary team as an advocate, interpreter, educator, and counselor for orthopedic and bariatric patients. She/he is responsible for ensuring all orthopedic and bariatric patients receive quality and comprehensive services. She/he will coordinate patient care through the continuum in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. She/he will serve as a clinical resource with knowledge of the overall care of orthopedic and bariatric patients. She/he will serve as a liaison throughout the facility and in the community regarding services provided for this patient population. She/he may provide supportive services to physicians to include but not limited to casting, splinting, bracing and traction as necessary, oversight of orthopedic rental equipment and assistive devices. He/she is an active participant in the department team and performs the following function below as it relates to the orthopedic service line. He/she will be responsible for management of ongoing Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence requirements (MBSAQIP). This includes bariatric program development, patient and staff education, as well as oversight of multidisciplinary teams and acting as the liaison between bariatric surgical practices. Additional tasks may include the following: · Design and Implement service line appropriate materials · Coordinate with community liaisons to arrange educational opportunities · Facilitates Pre-Op Joint and Bariatric Education Classes · Performs staff level education and competency evaluation · Gathers, analyzes, and presents performance improvement indicators for Joint Commission Disease Specific Certification · Gathers patient satisfaction and patient functional outcomes data and shares information with appropriate audience · Orders, maintains, and charges orthopedic and bariatric supplies when applicable · Facilitates trusted relationship with physicians, office staff, interdisciplinary team, patients/families. · Coordinate scheduling of support groups for orthopedic and bariatric patients · Coordinate multi-disciplinary meetings for orthopedic and bariatric programs · Coordinate PAT testing, boot camp binder review with orthopedic and bariatric patients · Review patient post-op encounters and track patient outcomes for orthopedic and bariatric registries |
· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
· Current licensure with the TN Board of Nursing.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification required within 90 days of hire or promotion.
· Advance Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within one year of hire or promotion.
