MU TITLE: Educational Program Associate III

LOCATION: Hillcrest Community Center - Columbia, MO

MU Extension's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (Osher@Mizzou) is a lifelong learning program that provides a variety of noncredit, affordable courses and other educational, cultural, and social offerings designed for adults aged 50 plus, all for the joy of learning. This part-time, seasonal position is essential to the mission of Osher@Mizzou with a focus on the successful delivery of semester courses, exceptional customer service, and positive member relations. Osher classes are in session 24 weeks of the year, over four semesters, and the educational associate would work seasonally during those four semesters at around 20 hours per week. This position would work 24 to 32 weeks out of the year, with work breaks taking place between semesters.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

• Help set up classrooms, including arranging tables and chairs, and monitor AV equipment.
• Welcome members, assist with check-in, and maintain accurate class rosters.
• Support the onboarding, monitoring, and troubleshooting of hybrid and online classes.
• Prepare mailing lists, course materials, and other semester-related materials.
• Compile and tabulate course evaluations and participant surveys.
• Assist with extracurricular programs, social events, and other special activities.
• This position requires attention to detail, technological proficiency, and strong customer service skills.
• Hours are varied depending on programmatic needs but occur primarily M-F, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to carry or maneuver tables and chairs safely. Occasionally will be required to sit, stand, kneel, or crouch.
• As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected to support the mission and purpose of MU Extension.

Administrative supervision is received from the Educational Director of the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

Shift

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (20 hours a week) for 24 to 32 weeks out of the year.

Ability to occasionally work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, is required to fulfill assigned responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 6 months of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficient in Microsoft Windows (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, Teams), Google workspace and Zoom applications.
• Ability to work independently, have self-initiative, and be able to work with a variety of personalities.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.00 - $21.25 per hour

Grade: GGS-007
