Position Overview Seeking experienced OSP Construction Managers to support long-haul fiber (backbone / middle-mile / Client) projects.
This is a direct hire, full-time role responsible for managing underground and aerial fiber construction crews and subcontractors, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
The role begins in Columbus, OH and involves travel across long-haul fiber routes in the Midwest.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee OSP construction crews and subcontractors on fiber projects
Lead aerial and underground (UG) construction activities, including HDD, trenching, plowing, and conduit installation
Conduct daily and weekly subcontractor audits to ensure compliance and performance
Enforce safety standards, quality control, and company procedures
Oversee damage prevention initiatives and ensure projects stay within budget
Coordinate with Project Managers on scheduling, materials, and execution
Track milestones, production, and deliverables throughout the project lifecycle
Review and approve:
Daily production reports
Timesheets and invoices
As-builts and closeout documentation
Interface with clients and stakeholders for on-site coordination
Train and manage field crews, including Foremen
Ensure projects meet timelines, budget, and quality expectations
Required Qualifications
5+ years of construction management experience (fiber, telecom, or utilities preferred)
Strong hands-on experience with:
Underground (UG) construction (required)
Aerial fiber construction (highly preferred)
Proven experience managing crews and subcontractors (not individual contributor role)
Experience with long-haul / backbone / middle-mile fiber projects preferred
Ability to read and interpret:
Blueprints
Construction drawings
Contracts and project documents
Strong project management and budgeting skills
Excellent communication skills (written & verbal) required
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Trenching and plowing
Conduit and duct placement
Fiber backbone infrastructure
Damage prevention practices
As-builts and project closeouts
Scheduling and project tracking tools
Excel and construction software (e.g., HeavyBid preferred)
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: $85,000 – $95,000
Per Diem / Travel Stipend
Company Truck: Provided for job-site use (no take-home)

Work Schedule & Travel
Rotation: 4 weeks onsite / 1 week remote from home
Initial assignment: Columbus, OH (6–12 months)
