OSP Construction Supervisor with QA/QC Location: Oahu, HIPay rate: $38- 40/hr. DoE plus approved mileage

Position Summary
TekCom Resources is seeking an experienced OSP Construction Supervisor / Field Representative to support a major Outside Plant construction project near Oahu, Hawaii. This role blends field supervision, QA/QC, drilling oversight, and construction reporting. It is not a full‑time inspector role;instead, it focuses on ensuring compliance, documenting discrepancies, and coordinating with contractors and project stakeholders.
The ideal candidate brings 3–5 years of construction inspection or utility/telecom field experience, is fully local to the project near Oahu, and is comfortable working independently from the field—primarily out of their vehicle, with no dedicated office.
Role ResponsibilitiesField Oversight & Coordination- Serve as the primary field point of contact for construction questions, issues, and unforeseen conditions.
- Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, archaeologists, and the design office to maintain project progress.
- Conduct weekly coordination meetings with the Contractor’s Superintendent regarding crew locations, work hours, and traffic control.
Daily Observation & Reporting- Perform daily observations of construction activities including HDD, large rig operations, seaward work, manhole excavation, trenching, plowing, boring, and cable placement.
- Maintain detailed daily logs: activities, weather, crew/equipment, visitors, irregularities, and corrective actions.
- Document and report discrepancies using company digital reporting tools.
- Photograph site progress and submit reports to the project office.
Compliance & QA/QC- Ensure work is completed according to drawings, specifications, permits, and environmental mitigation requirements.
- Observe traffic control setups and report discrepancies.
- Track quantities of installed facilities (conduit, pipe, manholes, etc.).
- Understand and manage required testing per specifications (manual tests, brushing, cleaning—fiber testing not included).
Contract & Technical Administration- Understand contract requirements, unit pricing, lump sum, and T&M structures.
- Identify out‑of‑scope work and communicate with the home office.
- Assist with RFI review and coordination between field and design teams.
- Work with jurisdictional agencies to answer questions and maintain smooth construction progress.
Logistics & Work Conditions- Work out of a vehicle at job sites;no office is provided.
- Daily travel to sites on Oahu;no island hopping required.
- Tablet provided if needed.
- Not expected to work more than 40 hours per week.
What will catch our eye:- 3–5 years of field utility, telecom, or construction inspection experience.
- Experience with trenching, plowing, boring, excavations, or cable placement.
- Familiarity with construction equipment: drill rigs, excavators, hoe‑rammers, compressors, etc.
- Strong understanding of OSP construction, drilling operations, and QA/QC practices.
- Ability to work independently, document thoroughly, and manage contractor compliance.
- Must be local to Oahu due to logistical requirements.
- Comfortable working from a vehicle and outdoors in varying conditions.
