Job PurposeThe OSP Engineer I manages the planning, design, and construction of the access network of Hawaiian Telcom. The Network Engineering -- Outside Plant (OSP) group designs and details the integration of wireline, copper cable, fiber optics, high-speed internet, video, etc. into the network to provide voice, data, and video service.Essential FunctionsPlan, field, design and issue OSP work orders on a timely basis to meet customer, service or required objectivesSupport the field with respect to questions on issued work orders and in support of troubleMeet with customers and prepare customer initiated quotesMeet with and provide OSP design feedback to developers and electrical consultantsProcess and respond to Joint Pole applicationsOther tasks as related to providing service to customers, resolving trouble or supporting network requirementsExperience3 to 5 years in related fieldEducationFour years of College resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalentCertifications, Accreditations, LicensesMust have a valid driver's licenseAble to meet medical and driver certification requirements as established by the DOT Federal Highway Safety ActSpecial Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesDemonstrated experience using FCC / PUC Tariffs; NEC/NESC Codes; OSP products and their applicationsOSP design practices and construction techniquesFamiliar with conduit systems, duct systems, road improvements, and environmental issuesPlan and budget allocation processesStandard accounting practicesAppropriate applications for various transmission media i.e. copper - fiber cableManage multiple priorities, functions and tasksLeverage leadership and a variety of technical skills to work across internal groups as well as with vendors and industry partners to support service offerings and infrastructure capabilitiesOperate analytical test equipment such as data analyzers, oscilloscopes, etc.Supervisory ResponsibilityNo Supervisory ResponsibilitySalary Range: $70,000 - $98,000#J-18808-Ljbffr
