Location: Fort Washington, PA Duration: 12 Months Target Experience: 5–7 years
Responsibilities
Oversee, inspect, and monitor contractual field work, including excavations, boring, placement of hand-holes, aerial strand and fiber cable installation, grounding, and restoration of work areas per required standards.
Must be knowledgeable in Outside Plant (OSP) construction, including line, splicing, and substructure.
Apply knowledge of State, Federal, OSHA, and NEC codes.
Use 3GIS, Google Earth, or other industry-standard geospatial applications.
Utilize general computer applications, including MS Office, Adobe, GSuite, and similar tools.
Advise contractors of violations and recommend adjustments to work operations.
Apply knowledge of OSP construction methods, practices, and safety guidelines.
Inspect and oversee construction of manholes, environmental vaults, conduit formations, and other underground telephone construction performed by contractors.
Manage multiple tasks while providing subject matter expertise to meet high-priority requirements and quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
Observe work in progress to ensure procedures and materials conform to work prints.
Measure and record distances to verify the final location of installations.
Provide and ensure pathways for new copper and fiber cables by monitoring contractors performing duct rodding/cleaning and placement of mule tape and/or inner duct for pulling or jetting copper and fiber cables.
Must-Have Skills
Ability to interpret work prints and specifications for contractors and correct deviations from specified construction procedures.
Ability to climb ladders, work aloft, enter confined spaces, and move/lift items generally not exceeding 60 lbs.
Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and unscheduled shifts based on business needs.
Strong knowledge of OSP construction methods, practices, and safety guidelines.
Knowledge of line, splicing, and substructure.
Desired Skills
Valid state driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
Ability to provide a COI if required to drive a company vehicle on occasion.
