Description:

CTG is seeking to fill an OSS Database & Platform Engineer position for our client.

 

Location: Charlotte, NC

Duration: 12 Months

Overview

We are seeking an experienced OSS Database & Platform Engineer to support and modernize mission-critical Telecom OSS applications supporting TDM-based landline telephony networks. This role is responsible for the administration, optimization, reliability, and modernization of database and platform environments across a complex hybrid infrastructure landscape.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Oracle and Informix databases, Linux platform administration, telecom operational support systems, and enterprise modernization initiatives involving cloud adoption, operating system migrations, and database transformation.

Duties

  • Administer and support Oracle, Informix, and other enterprise database platforms.
  • Perform database installation, upgrades, patching, migrations, backup/recovery, replication, and performance tuning.
  • Support Telecom OSS applications across development, testing, staging, and production environments.
  • Lead and support modernization efforts involving migration from Solaris, HP-UX, and legacy Windows environments to Red Hat Enterprise Linux and modern Windows platforms.
  • Monitor and optimize database and platform performance for high-volume operational systems.
  • Support hybrid infrastructure environments across on-premises data centers, Azure, and AWS Outposts.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues involving databases, operating systems, middleware, and application platforms.
  • Collaborate with application, infrastructure, cloud, and network teams during transformation initiatives.
  • Support the evolution of legacy TDM-based systems toward modern IP-based architectures.

  • Experience supporting Linux, UNIX, and Windows server environments.
  • Experience working within large-scale production environments and modernization programs.
  • Experience supporting cloud and hybrid infrastructure deployments.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
